THE BACHELOR PREFERRED PASTRY by Shirley Jump

Olivia Regan has a problem. She’s opened up a pastry business, but she’s not getting enough customers. She decides the best way to get good publicity is buying the richest and sexiest bachelor at a charity auction, and get him to try her pastries. She wants to use him in ads. To that end she spends twelve thousand dollars to get Daniel Worth IV. She knows this has emptied her business account, but figures that the customers she’ll gain will soon replenish her empty coffers.

Daniel Worth IV has never had to work for anything in his life. He’s living off his trust fund, and all he has to do is remain dignified, not embarrass the family, and the flow of money will continue. He agrees to the bachelor auction as a part of his duty to the family. He’s embarrassed, and uncomfortable with the situation, and then someone bids twelve thousand dollars for twenty four hours with him. He doesn’t know the winner, and figures that he’ll be his usual charming self and that will be that.

Then Olivia tries to get him to pose with her pastries. Daniel stomps off in a huff wearing a cake, and offers to refund her money if she’ll let him off the hook. But Olivia persists, despite multiple disasters

Olivia’s parents love her dearly, but think she’s hopeless. Olivia wants to succeed for her parents, sister, and most of all, herself. Daniel has never been around someone like Olivia. As he spends more time with her, he falls in love, and eventually is inspired by her.

Shirley Jump has written another laugh-out-loud funny story, with great recipes in the beginning of each chapter. Olivia’s need to succeed gets her into some hilarious situations, and how she gets out of them is even funnier. Daniel starts out as a stuffed shirt, who gradually loosens up. The love scenes are hot, and flow with the story. I highly recommend this book, and as a result of reading it, read another of her novels. I intend to read her other books, and look forward to additional tales from this excellent author.
