It’s not easy being a single mom and especially challenging when you’re trying to keep that fact secret. When Laura Woodman returns to her hometown with young son Toby, she intends to reconnect with her family, but she is fleeing from another life that could bring grave harm to those she loves, if she isn’t successful.
Carrying a load of guilt in his soul, missionary Wes Evans arrives in the midst of a Vermont snow storm to interview for a possible job, but he’s also hiding something. Wes needs heart healing in the worst way. Lauren offers him a ride and takes him to her home where everyone soon warms to the stranger and life is somewhat comfortable.
And, then, there is an event that causes more pain that either Lauren or Wes could imagine, and the reader wonders – is there going to be a happy ending after all???
Carrie Turnasky delivers a sweet suspense laced story in Along Came Home, her first novel. With a unique spin on an often used hero occupation (missionary) Wes’s struggles captured my heart. And Toby is a sweet boy who loves his mom while Lauren puts her son’s well being first. This is a quick read and will most assuredly make you feel good
