ICE QUEEN by Joey W. Hill

Marguerite needs to be in control of her life, and being a mistress gives her the kind of control she craves. She has it down to a science, and is well known for her ability to make a sub happy, if only for one night. Her ability to sense what they need from her is something she can’t explain, she just knows what they need and gives it too them. She doesn’t get want to get attached, because that kind of emotion clutters up her life and is hard to control. She’s the best dominant around, with the exception of one… Tyler. She’s attracted to him and it makes her uncomfortable, so she tends to avoid him if at all possible. She knows it would never work between two dominants, so she hopes that nothing will come of it. She doesn’t count on Tyler’s determination to get into her life.

Tyler has been attracted to Marguerite ever since she first came to the club two years ago. Something about her calls to him, and he has a need to find out what it is about her that attracts him. She’ll never let him close enough to find out though, and he’s almost resigned himself to that. Until he finds out that she’s missed out on the membership requirement that she has to spend some time as a submissive in order to stay at the club. Who better than Tyler to teach her?

When I first started Ice Queen, I initially thought I was going to be disappointed, because it starts out slow with a lot of explanations that I thought I didn’t need. It turns out that in order to comprehend what is going on you really have to have the explanations about submissive and dominants or it’s harder to be drawn into their world. Marguerite has been brutally hurt in the past, and it has made her numb, unable to feel or want to feel and be known by her lover. Tyler has also been hurt in the past, but he seems to be willing to let someone new into his life. They are both damaged people, and as I got to know them and started to understand what is going on, I found myself immersed in the story so much that I didn’t want it to end. It is to be continued, so there is hope that I will find out what I want to know about both characters. Ice Queen is certainly one for the keeper shelf, and I will be impatiently awaiting the next one in the series, MIRROR OF MY SOUL.
