Dani O’Rourke is use to hard work and familial responsibilities. She has had to raise her two brothers and keep a roof over their heads. Dani is a woman who has spent most of her adult life sacrificing for her siblings. Love is one of the things she gave up for them. She is a strong and loving woman who could have been filled with bitterness due to what life has handed her but she isn’t. Her warmth and generosity exudes from her. Burke Black is recovering from injuries suffered in a car crash. He has decided to make major changes in his life. Burke is a man who is rich in material wealth but without people who really care for him. His accident has made him sit up and take notice of what he lacks. His decision to start new in Jamesville brings him and Dani together.
Discovering Dani is a sweet romance that slowly unwinds. Dani who is inexperienced with men wants to take this new relationship slowly and the reader can fully understand why. She has a heart of gold and a wonderful spirit. The reader is sympathetic to what she has sacrificed and wants her to get everything she deserves. Burke is use to women falling at his feet and Dani is not succumbing as quickly as he wants her to. Burke is not a very lovable character. His actions toward Dani at times were disrespectful and just plain hurtful. He does some groveling but this reader would have liked more!! However by the end of the story, he does redeem himself and becomes worthy of Dani.
The author begins a new series with this introductory book. It is a solid start brimming with emotions that the reader will experience alongside the lead characters. It is a romance with touches of eroticism that is in keeping with the story.
