When I received the second Becoming, I was a bit skeptical. How many times can you make the Word relevant and practical for today’s woman, while keeping it fresh?
Pick up a copy and you will see. Edition 2 is even better than the first. Laid out like
a glossy magazine, with cover titles indicating what is inside: 45 ways to be healthy and strong – inside and out, 25 Tips on developing True Beauty, Having peace of mind: 36 Truths Live By, Are you growing spiritually?, Have you found true love?.
New Testament books Matthew – Revelation is written in the easy to follow, true to the original Greek and Hebrew works, New Century translation. There are short newsy type items on each page under different headings like: Seven Ways To – (Deal With Change, Control PMS, Battle a Headache, etc,), there are quizzes, Fun Facts, Life Issues, Profiles of Bible folks – Women and Men of the Bible, What’s in A Word, All About Men, Q&A sections, Become Involved, Relationship help, He Said She Said, Money, Be Still and Know, Beauty becomes Her, What’s the P.O.I.N.T., Modern Worship, Balancing Act, and a favorite of mine – Savvy Chef
I’ve read the buzz about the first round of Biblezines and understand there is concern that these zines are too modern, too in your face, too ‘casual’, and while this is all true except for the ‘too’ part in my opinion, these zines reach contemporary people on a different level. I use it more often than my traditional bible, as I can easily tote it with me. It’s not a study book, but certainly a book you can study.
Easter is the perfect time for new bibles and this version will easily fit in the Easter Basket of someone you love (make sure you get one for yourself).
This might be a silly thing to give the Road to Romance Reviewers choice award to, but it’s one of the best non-fictions I’ve reviewed, and so I do give it the award!!
Blessed reading and a blessed Easter too!
