A horrific car crash killed Don Piper. He stayed dead for 90 minutes. A pastor offered to pray for the accident victims. The attending public service attendants seemed to think the pastor was little daft going to pray for the mangled corpse in the demolished car. But, the pastor didn’t care. He knew what God was telling him to do – pray for the man in the car. And pray he did. At the gates of heaven Don felt the tug back to earth. He didn’t want to go back. He was in a place of love, hope, and peace. But, he went back. He returned and his life has never been the same.
Will all the afterlife garbage out there – John Edwards talking with dead people, Sylvia Browne hearing from dead people, haunted America shows investigating haunting of dead people…I was a little skeptical reading this book. But, I trusted the publisher Revell to present a balanced Christian faith based story. And, I trust Cecil Murphey. (Didn’t know Don Piper) This story does everything but creep the reader out.
In an honest recounting of this amazing event Don Piper and Cecil Murphey takes us through the accident to the very gates of heaven and back again, in an incredible journey of faith, trust, love and hope. Don says his life forever changed and in some ways, after reading this book, so was mine. Imaging the way my deceased parents and grandson might be now in heaven, has always been a little bit based on hope, but with the description Don gives us, I can see what it’s like for my loved ones and KNOW they are safe and peacefully praising our Lord Jesus.
90 Minutes in Heaven is a must read for anyone who has curiosity about the afterlife, have lost a loved one, or is searching for hope.
