Kally Jo Surbeck
returns with the sequel to For the Love of… This time around we
read about Charlize Deseu. She has everything she could possibly want –
great career, friends, looks, but none of that prepares her when her
best friend, Danni, goes missing and her hands feel tied in finding her.
The Outfit, which Charlize prosecuted, should have been a closed unit.
Little did Charlize know that they were just the beginning. Charlize
makes a vow to save her friend, no matter what.
Charlize must turn
to one man, Brock Halen O’Bannon, an ex-boxer, who is also as eager to find
Danni as she is. But working with Brock brings forth emotions that Charlize doesn’t want to deal with. He’s charming, he’s sexy, all she
needs to care about however is getting Danni back. Charlize, with the
help of Brock, will do whatever it takes, stand toe-to-toe with whomever
it takes, to see their friend safe. But who will keep Charlize and Brock
safe…from each other?
The wait is finally
over. The Luck of the Irish is back, and is as magnificent as ever, with
Shades of Doubt. From the get-go, readers are sucked into the
life of Charlize, but Mac’s presence is still felt and this reader can’t
help but want to rush through this story and savour it all. Charlize and
Brock are a couple who compliment each other well and are wonderfully
matched. The tension between them is felt throughout the story and they
really connect with the reader. I was totally seduced by Brock, his
Irish rogue, his charm, his tenderness, his terms of endearment…he’s an
A+ hero!!
I’m also very
intrigued by Bobby, as well as Danni. I do hope Ms. Surbeck is
listening, and has plans to do more stories of this series! Charlize
grew into her own in this story as well. It was a more than satisfying
ending to this second book of the series. But of course, as stated, I am
hoping there will be more.
Ms. Surbeck writes
Shades of Doubt in the first person, not something that is always
what readers look for, but her writing in such a manner draws a reader
into the characters lives quicker and in a fulfilling way. I can’t
imagine these stories being written in anything but first person; a
reader can really feel the story more significantly the way it is. Ms.
Surbeck does an amazing job with this sequel, Shades of Doubt, is
fast-paced adventure, intrigue, sensuality, desire and adrenaline. It’s
an edge of your seat read that shouldn’t be missed. Shades of Doubt
stands on its own, but even more thrilling if you’ve read book one.
Having two men, such as Gabe (book one) and then Brock at your
fingertips is an adrenaline rush in itself!
Readers don’t want
to miss Shades of Doubt or the Luck of the Irish series. It
simply has everything readers can enjoy from page one, straight through
to the end.
