Zakia Wilkes and Nikki Riley hail from Richmond, Virginia. They’ve been raised in a culture full of joy and heartaches. None have the answers nailed down. They’re all searching. Will their cups be filled with truth? The stories weave in and out as the women and their men from the gang the Execs grow up.
Zakia’s college days rushed her into a relationship she wasn’t ready for. The result is a child, the apple of her eye. Although her plans were altered, she persevered and made a place for herself. When she finally encounters Mr. Right, she feels he’s a gift from God.
Nikki travels to Atlanta to find security for her family after her divorce. Sure of her talents as an accountant, she relied on God to find her the right job, and ended up at Way Maker Ministries. Her new life came with handsome neighbors and new friends. Trusting God, she worked to make her days pleasing to his service.
While the characters in the book are true-to-life, the writer has not presented them in an interesting forum. Each character faces their own inner struggles, yet readers are presented with mundane scenarios which detract from the story. Ms. Beverly has a cast which will resonate with readers when she hones her craft more skillfully.
