Emmaline Troy has
been sheltered by her honorary aunts for years. She doesn’t know a lot
about herself or if she has the powers some say she does. She’s on a
journey to uncover the truth about her deceased parents. Emmaline feels
that to move forward toward the future with ease, she needs to uncover
the truth about where she comes from. Her journey is interrupted however
by Lachlain MacRieve. Lachlain is the leader of the Lykae Clan, whose
fury and temperament scare Emmaline. She’s even more afraid of the
feelings that Lachlain brings out in her, desires-- unwanted and
unfamiliar—and how he sets her body on fire. Can Emmaline trust Lachlain
to protect her, even at the same time that he wants to claim her…?
Lachlain MacRieve
spent centuries tortured at the hands of a vampire Horde. The only thing
that got him through the years was the thoughts of his predestined mate
and his aching for her. Lachlain escapes from the Horde when nothing
will stop him from finding the mate that he senses near. He’s shocked
however, to learn that his mate is a vampire. Emmaline brings out the
beast in him, in more ways than one, yet Lachlain is certain that there
has been some mistake. He, a Lykae werewolf, cannot mate with a half
Valkyrie/half vampire! It’s simply not done.
As danger approaches
Emmaline on her search into her past, Lachlain will be either her
saviour or her greatest threat. But theirs is A Hunger Like No Other…
A magnificent mix of
Fae, Valkyrie, werewolf, vampire and all that is awesome within the
paranormal genre are found in Kresley Cole’s A Hunger Like No Other.
We are first introduced to Emmaline in Ms. Cole’s, The Warlord Wants
Forever, which is in the anthology Playing Easy to Get.
Emmaline has been sheltered her whole life, from the truths of the past,
who she really is and the power that she holds within. When she meets
Lachlain, she has no idea how to handle him or the emotions he brings
out in her. Their chemistry is electric, powerful and totally consuming.
I especially enjoyed the melding of all that is supernatural which Ms.
Cole writes splendidly. I don’t think I have ever read a story that has
so many characters, which are so easy to follow, that are from so many
walks of supernatural. A Hunger Like No Other is a fast-paced
adventure, the imagination within the pages is splendid and it’s truly
an awesome read that holds a reader spellbound. The secondary
characters, from Regin, Annika, Nikolai, Myst, Kaderin—all of them are
memorable and add a lot of fascination to the story.
A Hunger Like No
Other
receives The Road to Romance Reviewer’s Choice Award for
everything stated above and for Ms. Cole’s ability to sweep a reader
away, so much so, that hours have passed without notice. Mere words
can’t describe A Hunger Like No Other eloquently, but this story
is simply magnificent. Readers have to read it; it really shouldn’t be
missed. I look forward to the rest of the books in this series and can’t
wait for the next one.
