Caleb Walker lived a quiet, ups and downs kind of childhood, with his single mother. Now an adult, Caleb looks back on that childhood and admires his mother for doing it all alone. He’s shocked to discover, however, that he’s the illegitimate heir to a rich tycoon’s empire – and that he has two stepbrothers as well. Alyssa is the financial company’s top employee, and Caleb can’t help but see beneath her baggy clothes and ice-cold demeanor with her co-workers. Alyssa doesn't’ get involved and doesn’t get personal. But Caleb wants to change all that.
And when a nasty rumour about him and Alyssa makes it way through the company, Caleb can’t help but come up with the easiest solution to nip it in the bud…
The first of the Illegitimate Heirs is enjoyable and endearing. Ms. DeNosky pens a tale that is rich with good writing, wonderful characters and some comedic moments. Caleb is an absolute doll who enjoys life and doesn’t back down from anything he wants. Alyssa is a quiet, kind, yet sharply intelligent woman who I found to also be enjoyable and a perfect match for Caleb. The sparks fly between these two characters and they at times set the pages on fire.
A couple of other enjoyable facets of Engagement Between Enemies, is Emerald Larson, and Caleb’s two, newfound brothers, Nick and Hunter. I fully expect their stories to be as great as Caleb’s and can’t wait for their release. Engagement Between Enemies starts off what looks to be another great series by Kathie DeNosky. She writes exactly what her readers want – pure romance and enchanting reading.
