This book is the sequel to BRYSON CITY TALES.
Dr. Walt Larimore and his wife Barb enjoy small town living in the Smoky Mountains. The mountain people gradually accept them as part of the community, but once in a while they are still reminded that they're "outsiders."
Their daughter Kate has cerebral palsy. I was touched by the Larimores' determination in helping her overcome her handicap and accomplish much more than her doctors had predicted. Their son Scott is a typical into-everything boy, and I was amused at the story of how their new bedroom carpet "almost resulted in the end of Scott's life."
Larimore does an excellent job of portraying his characters uniquely, and I could relate to them all. His descriptions of setting made me feel I was actually living in Bryson City as I read the book. The drama of medical procedures is interspersed with routine living and humor, such as an account of the hilarious Miss Flame contest.
BRYSON CITY SEASONS is a combination of my two favorite types of reading material: small towns and medicine. Included was an excerpt of the next in the series, BRYSON CITY SECRETS, and I look forward to reading more about the town and the doctor that has captured my interest and my heart.
