Mibby Garrett’s garden design business needs help. It has been a hot summer, causing a draught, and a lot of her customers are canceling their yard care. Unfortunately, Mibby needs the money to repair her water heater and other house hold items. Not to mention her teenage son has entered the sourpuss stage and nothing Mibby can say or do seems to get through to him.
When Mibby’s friend, Ben, seems to have moved on to greener pastures, Mibby realizes how much she’d like to have a male friend. But her friends’ attempts to fix her up with blind dates seem to be falling flat. The first date appears to be looking to marry a horse. The second expects dinner to be a prelude to other activities. The third is living with his mother, but at least he keeps her well supplied with Sweet Suzy Strawberry Cream Balls.
Will Mibby be able to find a man half as reliable as her dog and a role-model for her son?
ALWAYS GREEN is the second book in The Garden Gates Series and I recommend reading the first in the series Like a Well Watered Garden first as this book is a continuation of the story. I enjoyed revisiting with Mibby and her friends and could really relate to her struggles with her son as I am facing the same on-going battle.
ALWAYS GREEN doesn’t seem to end the series as there are still several untied story lines, so I am looking forward to reading the third book in the series. If you check out Ms. Hill’s website at
www.pattihillauthor.com
you will find gardening tips, recipes from her books (that sound
absolutely wonderful) and questions to use for discussion groups. I
totally love this series and recommend ALWAYS GREEN for a great read.
