Erin McCuen is stressed out because of all the demands on her time and money. She’s Milltown’s go-to-girl when someone in town needs something. She’s also flat broke and her house, which dates pre-civil war era, is in need of major repairs. Once upon a time, the McCuen family had money, but it disappeared long ago and her teaching job and tutoring assignments don’t begin to pay the bills. What’s a girl to do? Erin borrowed money, maxed out her credit cards and now she can’t make ends meet. Everything in her life is falling apart and just when she thinks things couldn’t get any worse, Wade Winslow the town bad boy and Erin’s first and only love rides back into town on his Harley. Now that Wade is back can Erin protect her heart while keeping everything else in her life afloat?
Wade has come home to see Norm, his adoptive father who is dying of cancer. When Wade was about nine, his father killed a man and was sent to prison. The people of Millstown
whispered behind his back, so he decided he would give him something to
talk about. He was a wild child and stayed in trouble, but Erin always
seemed to understand him. At the age of 18 and after a wonderful night
of passion with Erin, Wade left town vowing never to return. He felt
Erin deserved better than him, but he’s never forgotten how wonderful it
was between them that one night. After leaving town, Wade became a fire
jumper, a position which has earned him a lot of respect. His immediate
plans are to see Norm, stay until he passes and then leave again. But
will being close to Erin and knowing about her situation change his
mind?
WHERE HE BELONGS is a one of those stories that captures your attention from
the beginning and keeps you captivated until the very last word. The
story flows perfectly and the characters are realistic, funny and
likeable, with the exception Seth’s dad. The chemistry between Wade and
Erin was very exciting and you can feel their reaction to each other
every time they got close. It’s every woman’s fantasy to have that kind
of chemistry with a man. Wade walks into the room and Erin melts and he
can’t keep his hands off her. Gail Barrett tells a charming yet sensual
story about second changes and I love the delivery. It’s a book about
romance, friendship, and to some extent a coming of age later in life
story. I highly recommend WHERE HE BELONGS as a book you definitely won’t want to miss.
