Ryan
O’Fallon’s quiet world takes an unexpected turn when he’s told that he
has a daughter. A baby girl was left on his father’s doorstep of his
childhood home in Mississippi, O’Fallon’s Landing, and Ryan needs to
return to learn the truth. A big city architect these days, Ryan doesn’t
venture back home often and doesn’t relish making the trip this time
either.
Effie
Wilson is a fellow architect who Ryan loves to banter with
professionally. She’s an uptight woman who loves to give Ryan as much as
he gives her, but when he learns that she has been placing bets on him
and his love-life, that she sees him as nothing more than a ladies--love
‘em and leave ‘em kind of guy--he’s shocked at the disappointment he
feels knowing she thinks that of him. They are up to their necks in the
current building project they are working on together and neither has
time for a break. Effie flatly refuses to allow Ryan to return to his
childhood home without her, they started their project together and
they’ll finish it together.
Effie
and Ryan find that while in the hot and humid atmosphere of Mississippi,
their relationship changes. Nights of passion wrapped in each other’s
arms makes them both see what they could be missing. As they stand by
Ryan’s father and protect the baby, Ryan and Effie find out that their
own hearts need protecting too.
Thugs, humour, tight
friendships and sassy characters puts ‘Til There Was U, by
Dianne Castell on my list of favourite authors. This story had me in
stitches, tears of laughter streaming down my face more than once and
that feel good emotion that comes at the end of a really splendid book.
Ryan and Effie don’t know what hit them as love hits them head on and
their helpless to resist. I couldn't help but enjoy their banter, as
well as Ryan’s dad and Thelma and Sally, the secondary characters who
light up the pages as well. I liked Thelma’s adventures that were
smoothly written within this story. Her adventures were as enthralling
as Ryan and Effie’s.
The mystery
surrounding the baby, Bonnie, and the fact that her mother is still
missing will keep the readers hooked to this series, plus the fact that
Ryan is the first hunky O’Fallon son, and eagerly waiting for more. I
look forward to finding out the answers about Bonnie’s mother and the
return of the other two O’Fallon sons, Quade and Keefe, in future books.
‘Til There Was U was everything a reader could want. Don’t
miss it!
