Angel Delaney hoped the death of her father would bring her missing brother home after six years. As a former cop turned private investigator, Angel’s instincts say to find Luke and get some answers. When Luke’s best friend is shot in the line of duty, her radar kicks into high gear. Could one of the people at the funeral have been Luke? And who was the other guy hanging around? She never believed her brother was caught up in the Mafia like some alleged six years before when one of the witnesses and his guard were shot dead. But why else would Luke disappear? Too many questions and the answers could prove deadly.
“As Good As Dead” is the third fast paced mystery from the Angel Delaney series by Patricia Rushford. The family dynamics are real and drive the determination to find one of their own. Relationships are portrayed in a believable fashion and create a setting all its own. The characters are well rounded showing true depth of emotion. Faith is lived out in all the family members in a manner which does not come across as preachy or fake. Plot twists and many suspects will keep you wondering if anything you believe you know is true.
I would not recommend "As Good As Dead" for younger readers, though older teens would be appropriate. There is no language, nor are there sex scenes, keeping the book a good read. Patricia Rushford has found a new fan. I’ll be buying the other two books to catch up on the life of Angel Delaney.
