Anthony Kennington,
Viscount Hastings saves Sabrina Kallos, a Gypsy. He rescues her from
attackers and takes her to his home to recuperate. The attraction
between the two is very strong. Can their relationship withstand
society’s disapproval?
Anthony is beset by
many problems and headaches. He has his sister’s coming out to deal
with and the suggestion of matrimony has him running for the woods. He
leads an enjoyable life where he has women aplenty to enjoy. Sabrina is
a vibrant heroine. She is proud, smart and beautiful. Anthony and
Sabrina make an interesting couple. Although they come from very
diverse backgrounds it doesn’t prevent them from pursuing a relationship
together. Sabrina is well aware of the problems inherent in their
relationship and their conversations are very honest. Of course, the
physical desire is palpable between them and the physical relationship
is in keeping with the storyline. They do have a sparkling chemistry
together on all levels. Reality does intrude on these lovers and what
they have to do to is at times quite painful to watch. With all their
problems it was difficult to see a happy ending for this couple but Ms.
Benedict is able to pull one off. The ending expresses perfectly the
entire storyline as Anthony does what he needs to do to be with the one
he loves the most.
A Forbidden Love
is a fairly realistic romance as the author deals with the lead couple’s
problems honestly. It is not a bowl of cherries for these two but their
steadfastness in their love is the focal point of their story. It is a
tale filled with sacrifice, pain, suffering, but also of joy and
happiness. This is Ms. Benedict’s first book with Avon and it is a
fine beginning to many more books from this author.
