When Emily Charvez, of the New Orleans Charvez witches, draws a magical symbol from an ancient magic book, she garners the attention of Aine, Queen of the Fae. Aine knows that if the magic book, which has been lost for centuries, is found and falls into the wrong hands, everyone would be in danger. She summons Conchobar McNessa, her trusted warrior advisor to watch over Em.
At first, Con resents having to watch over a human, even if she is a witch with powers. Using his own fae powers, he follows her, watching and learning about her. As the months pass, he falls in love with her. He comes to realize that Emily is a truly good person, not to mention sexy and desirable. When he’s finally given the opportunity to show himself to her, he realizes he’ll stop at nothing to be with her.
Lately, Emily has felt more and more dissatisfied with her life. Growing up, she’s always felt as if others, especially her family, didn’t really know her. They see her as the shy, studious, basically boring sister. Combine that with the fact that the other women in her family seem to be more powerful witches and Em knows she’s dealing with a self-esteem issue. In addition, since she’s always dreamed of the “perfect” man, which none of her dates could compare to, she hasn’t had much luck in that arena either. But when she meets Con, he’s everything she’s ever dreamed of…if can she accept that he wants her just for herself.
As the second book in her Witches Knot series, Lauren Dane’s A Touch of Fae, picks up where Triad left off. Although this story can be read with no difficulty as a stand alone, once you finish it, you’ll definitely want to go read the first. I loved the characters. Emily is a strong woman, surrounded by strong women. As such, she feels she’s basically been in her sister’s shadow most of her life. Once she meets Con, he helps her see just how strong she really is, as well as how beautiful. As for Con, think of all the Fae stories of strong, beautiful, sexy men…and multiply that! He knows that he’s found the perfect woman, now he just has to convince her that she’s worthy of his love. Together, they fight an evil demon and learn just how strong and powerful they are together. They also have to fight the preconceived notions from both families! Not only is this a wonderful story of a woman discovering herself, it is a sensual delight. Con and Em are most definitely compatible in that area! Their encounters are sizzling, steamy and super-charged. Touch of Fae is another delightful, sexy story from Ms. Dane, filled with wonderful characters, suspense, love and lots of magic.
