KINGDOM OF YUTE: TOR’S BETRAYAL by Madison Hayes

Suspicion and mistrust are the rule, not the exception, when living the life of a rebel in the Kingdom of Yute. Spark has grown up in that rebel lifestyle and has developed a skewed outlook on herself, especially her appeal as a woman; after all, she’s always been just one of the guys. So when she meets Tor, she doesn’t even imagine that he’s attracted to her. Regardless of that, Spark is inexplicably drawn to the newest member of their band. While he’s the most beautiful man she’s ever seen, Tor Harnesson’s strength and leadership ability make him even more attractive to her.

After seeing Spark just one time, Tor changed himself and his life in order to be with the woman he knows is the one for him. He risks everything to be with her, giving up all he knows without a second thought. But when things go horribly wrong and he betrays those she loves in order to save Spark, will she forgive him?

Spark and Tor build a relationship based on half-truths. She trusts him not only with her life, but also with the lives of her family, friends and fellow rebels. On the other hand, Tor wants her and loves her but doesn’t know if he can trust her with his secret. Eventually he becomes the rebel leader and when she finally gives herself to him, it’s the most wonderful experience of their lives. But when Spark is injured and the only way to save her is to betray those she loves, Spark doesn’t understand Tor’s reasoning…and he can’t understand why she no longer trusts him. Their love and lives are changed forever but can they ever repair it?

Wow! KINGDOM OF YUTE: TOR’S BETRAYAL is another great story in the Kingdom series. This one continues with the tale of rebels trying to undermine the nobles. Ms. Hayes vividly describes their daily lives, living on the charity of sympathizers and always with one eye open, as well as their thoughts and feelings. Spark is definitely a product of her environment, smart and crafty, but with no idea of her own appeal. She yearns for Tor, but never truly believes that he could be interested in her. This disbelief eventually becomes their downfall. Tor is the embodiment of the perfect male to Spark. He’s intelligent, strong and a natural leader, not to mention gorgeous! He’s the kind of man everyone woman wants and every man wants to be. When they finally come together, it’s flammable. Neither can get enough of the other, which makes for great love scenes! Their love is inevitable, but so is their eventual pain. Tor knows he will have to hurt her eventually, but hopes that she will believe in their love. Unfortunately Spark is too blinded by her pain and the certainty that she is not worthy of him to truly see and believe in Tor’s love. This journey to find, lose and hopefully rediscover their love is one that I loved traveling and so will you.
