Silver Ashcroft, a
D’Anu witch practices magic. Some would say that she walks a fine line
between good magic and black magic, but Silver has her reasons for
practicing it at all. Danger surrounds Silver, more than she’d care to
admit. Her past continues to haunt her and she’s at times helpless to
stop it. Her magic is her shield, her way of life, but it does nothing
for the battle she faces, the darkness that will stop at nothing to
claim her. Silver is also unprepared for, Hawk, a Tuatha D’Dannan
warrior who makes her pulse race, her soul ache and she questions the
futility in which to trust him. Together Silver and Hawk must face the
evil that gets too close, while also learning to trust one another.
Power comes in many forms…magic, evil and love. Which will conquer and
which will falter?
To write a larger
blurb for Cheyenne McCray’s Forbidden Magic would give too
much of this story away in my opinion, and I think readers need to read
it, to believe it! For years of reading countless stories by this
author, I couldn’t have been more surprised after many previous
successes that I would dub Forbidden Magic as Ms. McCray’s
best story to date. This story, with its twists and turns and moments of
wide-eyed surprise and gasps, takes a reader on the ride of their lives,
probably one like they’ve never journeyed before. Silver and Hawk are
two of the most amazing characters I have ever read and hated to say
goodbye to. With fevered pitches, adrenaline rushes, and more emotional
upheavals, Hawk and Silver lead us through magic, ancient rituals and a
chemistry between them that hold a reader spellbound.
This one sitting
read receives The Road to Romance Reviewer’s Choice Award for all
the above and even more that I could go on and on about. Ms. McCray
delivers a powerful and gripping story with superb characters, a million
second guesses to solve it all and unexpected, breathless moments.
Thankfully this is only the beginning. Forbidden Magic is
the first of Ms. McCray’s Magic Series – one I will in no way miss after
reading this story. Cheyenne McCray masterfully blends paranormal,
fantasy, romance and suspense into one amazing work of art. Don’t miss
it!!
