We join David Kauffman and his teenage son Luke as they agree to go to a mountain lodge under the guise of attending a séance, but the real reason is to prove a world renowned psychic as a hoax. The lodge group consists of an odd mix of people, including an ex-model, her friend, and her spiritual advisor. The group at the lodge is going to try to contact the former model’s (dead) love, who David saw when he was in hell. (This is portrayed in Previous book – Soul Tracker). It isn't long before scary stuff starts happening, and soon it’s clear the house is either cleverly rigged to support the psychic, or other worldly beings are truly in touch with the present world.
Either way it’s pretty scary.
Ever wonder what would happen if a person’s inner desires, lusts, thoughts, etc. showed on the outside? Pretty scary thought to me. At the lodge, once the supernatural takes control of the participants, reality shifts. Suddenly people no longer look normal. And the changes aren’t all the same. As the power of the Presence gets stronger, the group must break the hold their innermost desires have on them, or be destroyed by them.
It is now when the crazy and rich owner of Life after Life, the corporation so involved in researching the journey of the soul, becomes intimately involved in the lives of those at the lodge. His despicable plan is revealed and the descent to hell is almost certain.
It’s no wonder Mr. Myers is a best selling author. His writing is tight and quick, and we identify fully with the characters who could be our family members or our friends. Maybe that is why his books touch the soul: we could imagine ourselves or our loved one’s in the same perilous situation as the characters in the book. He gives us a feel of the fire of hell and that sends us searching for the love of heaven.
You won’t be disappointed when you read this book; in fact your life might be forever changed.
