London - Early June 1831 -
Gerrad Reginald
Debbington only wants to see and paint the famed gardens of Hellebore
Hall. But in order to do so, Lord
Tregonning insists Gerrad paint his daughter’s portrait.
Jacqueline Tregonning wants her portrait done
to prove to people that she did not have a hand in killing her Mother.
Gerrad Debbington
was an amazing artist, his paintings were sought after.
Only when he painted portraits, they were not
for public showing, they were just for the portrait sitter and their
family. Lord Tregonning offered him the
chance to see and perhaps paint the gardens with a catch, Gerrad had to
paint
Jacqueline in her true light. Gerrad
didn’t want to paint his daughter, he wanted to paint the gardens. What was he to do?
Jacqueline
Tregonning was under a cloud of suspicion.
Someone has cast a shadow of guilt over her
regarding her Mother’s
death. Who would do such a thing? She has many friends, many men who wish to
see her as their bride. She believes if
Gerrad paints her, people will come to see there is no way she could
have
killed her Mother. But would he do it?
Would there be a price to pay for this chance to clear her name?
When Gerrad
arrives at Hellebore Hall, he was surprised when he first laid eyes on
Jacqueline. She was beautiful,
intelligent,
but she also had a sad, haunted look about her.
In order for him to paint her in her true light, he
would need to spend
time with her, get to know her and what she was in her thoughts. Jacqueline was impressed when she first saw
Gerrad, she knew he would be able to show everyone through his painting
of her,
she was innocent of killing her Mother.
The
description of the famed Gardens were awesome, I could see myself
standing
there with Jacqueline and Gerrad, taking in the breath taking view as
they were
described.
There
wasn’t anything I disliked about this book.
It had everything to hold my attention, mystery,
love, murder,
mayhem. There are other books in this
series,
but this book can stand-alone, there is a brief history about the
Cynster family. I didn’t feel lost, as I
have not read the
other books in this series. This book
should be at the top of your reading pile.
I give this book the highest possible score, The
Reviewer Choice Award!!
