Driven ~ LuAnn McLane
Writers,
Ian Parker and Maxine Mitchell are as different as night and day. The
only
thing they really have in common is the fact that they are both
writers. Ian is
a popular mystery writer whose readership is plentiful, but when it
comes to
mixing sex with his mystery, he’s falling down on the job. When his
publisher
demands that he write the long-anticipated sex scene between his main
characters, he’s terrified of the outcome. But then his agent puts him
together
with Maxine Mitchell, a romantic comedy writer who has no problems
whatsoever
with sex scenes. What happens next…
Ms. McLane
writes a fun-filled, sexy romp that had me sweating and laughing. Ian
and
Maxine are like oil and water but Ms. McLane’s writing brings these two
characters together splendidly and it’s an enjoyable ride for her
readers. This
was my first story by LuAnne McLane. I am eager to see what other
offerings she
has available.
What
Happens in Vegas ~ Patricia
Ryan
Libby
Thatcher would do whatever it took to save her father from Eddie Flynn,
owner
of the Gold Dust Casino. To pay off the debt to Flynn, Libby has to get
close
to Jay Douglas, who is winning big in the casino. Flynn wants Libby to
find out
what she can about Jay and if he’s cheating. If Jay is, then Flynn will
take
care of him, because no one cheats or steals from him. But as Libby
gets close
to Jay, she finds herself not only wanting to save her father, but Jay
as well,
as risks are taken, passion is found and unexpected love is the only
gamble
really worth taking…
Ms. Ryan
pens a delightful tale that is enticing and holds a readers interest.
Jay at
first is hard to read, he literally keeps his cards close to his chest.
Libby
was a delight, a sweet, sexy young woman whose loyalties to her father
were
great, even if dangerous. This is an enticing tale that draws a reader
in
immediately.
Brushstrokes
~ Toni Blake
All Rick
Rose, owner of the Rose Tavern wanted was a simple paint job for the
bar. He
doesn’t have time for entanglements, wants the job done quickly and
without
hassles, but what he gets is a few strokes of Cupids arrow. Mia Drake
came back
to her hometown, down on her luck, prospects for a job nil, and the
desire to
just create something splendid and beautiful with a few strokes of her
paintbrush. She never expected to find Rick Rose, the object of her
every
fantasy, and when her aunt tells her he needs a painter for his bar,
she leaps
at the chance. She just never expected to create the most important
masterpiece
of her life…
Toni Blake
is one of my favourite authors. The first book I read by her was
fantastic and
this short story is no exception. From the very first, sensual desires
and
passionately written words, draw a reader in as Mia fantasizes about
Rick. This
is a very sensual and titillating tale with two characters that are
very
different from one another but can’t resist the temptations in one
another’s
arms. Ms. Blake writes a sexy story that burns the fingers of her
reader. Rick
Rose is too tempting to resist.
Taking
Care of Business anthology is a fantastic
contemporary keeper. All three authors show readers passion, unexpected
pleasures and the power of getting what you want. To pick a favourite
of the
three is impossible for me. Each short story shows that opposites do
attract
and that love will find you unexpectedly. McLane, Blake and Ryan are
three
authors to read often and watch for releases from. I know I will be.
