Contemporary Paranormal Romance

SINS OF THE NIGHT by Sherrilyn Kenyon

There's dissension among the Dark-Hunters and it feels like there's an extreme conspiracy afoot to turn them against their savior, benefactor and friend, the all-powerful Acheron. This has changed some of them into creatures as merciless and bloodthirsty as the Daimons they're sworn to hunt. While such a thing seems unbelievable, it's happened before and as always Acheron sends Alexion, to be judge, jury and if needed, executioner.

Inside a temporary body and with some pretty extraordinary powers, Alexion arrives to a chilly reception, particularly from Dangereuse St. Richard. He needs her cooperation and is charmed by her prickly attitude rather than be put off by it. Meanwhile, Danger caught in a thorny dilemma as her innate sense of justice recognizes the truth in Alexion's words even as her honor refuses to let her betray her friends.

Individually forged in the agonizing fire of betrayal, neither is willing to trust the other which makes for a volatile situation, one that's further compounded by the searing sexual tension between them. Soon they're on the run with demons, Dark-hunters and Daimons out to destroy them and no one to rely on but themselves. With irate Gods and Goddesses using them to fight their private battles and vent their earth-shaking vengeance, there seems little chance they or their fledgling love will survive.

Sherrilyn Kenyon and her Dark-Hunter novels need no introduction. As always, this story stands well on its own despite being part of a series. However, this book contains a short but crucial little story aptly called 'The Beginning' that explains all there is know about the creation of Dark-Hunters & their subsequent evolution. Even some tantalizing secrets about the hitherto always mysterious Acheron and his adorable Simi are revealed.

The juxtaposition of graphic action sequences together with vividly developed scenarios, breathless suspense and soulful characterizations has readers hanging on to the edge of their seats as Alexion and Danger tread a knife-edge thin line between like and dislike, right and wrong as they struggle to join forces and return order to a world gone mad. What makes this book different from others is that while Danger is a DH, Alexion is something completely unique and this makes their romance more difficult to develop and be fulfilled. Kudos to Kenyon, who as always gives her readers more that expected both story and character-wise and in turn, raises their expectations for the next thrilling installment of this unforgettable paranormal series.
