This romance is an earlier issue from the author under the title of Ivan Takes a Wife. This reissue is worth the read, because it is funny and saucy with just a touch of mystery. This contemporary story takes place in Maine in the summer.
Ivan Rasmussen had to sell ancestral home, but he still owns the Josiah T. Savage, a hundred-year-old coasting schooner. During the summer he takes 24 passengers and 4 crew members on six-day cruises along the coast of Maine.
Stephanie Lowe bought his home with the hopes of opening it during the summer as a bed and breakfast. However, soon after she moves in the house starts falling apart. She takes her cousin Lucy's place as the cook on the schooner, because Lucy's soon-to-be husband promised to help with the plumbing problems to repay the favor.
A crew member named Ace helps Stephanie when he finds out she doesn't really know how to cook. After a short time, passengers claim to see a ghost on the ship. They believe it is the ghost that has been living for over a hundred years at the house Stephanie bought. When they return from the cruise, the ghost is seen again at the house.
There is a good reason that Janet Evanovich is a best-selling author, and this book won't disappoint the reader. Wacky but caring characters, witty dialogue, and unexpected
occurrences lead to a very satisfying conclusion.
