FINDING AND FOLLOWING GOD’S WILL was not at all what I expected! Author Jane A. G. Kise has taken a fresh approach in guiding readers on a discovery of a lifetime.
Twelve chapters divide the book into segments, each chapter features three true stories which give readers a chance to peek inside the lives of others on their own journey to understanding God’s will. At the end of each chapter, key points sum up each area covered, giving readers an added boost in finding their way to God’s will.
Ms. Kise covers some interesting ground, attempting to answer some of the most important questions that Christians have about deciphering God’s will: “What if I’m not sure what to do? Can I trust my own heart? Was it God, or just a dream?” Each of these questions is answered by a true story, written by someone who has been in a unique situation, and learned a bit about how to find God’s will.
Take for instance, the Cowboy Preacher. Dave never intended to start ministering to a crowd of cowboys - he didn’t even really like the sport of bullriding - but he learned to listen to God’s will and now provides cowboys and bullriders across the country with God’s comforting Word.
Consider the story of a young woman trying to decide if her mother may be making a mistake in remarrying, and if she should support that “mistake” or try to convince her mother to change her mind. Was it a coincidence that her mother wanted her to wear a purple dress at the wedding? Was it a coincidence that a perfect purple dress in the exact size needed was found on sale? Or was it a silent message from God?
What about the woman who felt compelled to separate from her husband, knowing she’d have nowhere to go? Was it a fluke that she was offered several house-sitting jobs at the exact moment they were needed? Or was it a gift from God?
FINDING AND FOLLOWING GOD’S WILL is a very inspiring book, Christians who have been struggling to find their way will find it invaluable. Ms. Kise suggests that our God-given talents, personality and special characteristics can help us on our journey with God, a fact that I have found to be true in my own life. Each of us is unique, each given special gifts and miracles, each guided gently along the correct path – if we only take a moment to find, and follow, God’s will.
