WHENCE CAME A PRINCE by Liz Curtis Higgs

Jamie McKie is going home to Glentrool. Or is he? His wily and devious uncle does everything within his power to keep Jamie at his mercy. The heart of the young Scot is unsure where to call home as well. The mother of his first born, Leanna, still claims a piece of his heart, yet her sister, Rose, is his lawful wife. Can Jamie do his duty to all those involved and stay true to himself in the process?

"Whence Came a Prince" is the long awaited conclusion to the Lowlands of Scotland series started with Thorn in My Heart, and Fair is the Rose. We watch Jamie, Leanna and Rose struggle to deal with emotions and situations which test their mettle and their faith.

Jamie must forge his life with wife, Rose, after a mistake brings them together. Loving Rose begins to come more easily, but her father refuse to deal honestly with Jamie, causing strife to follow shadow their marriage.

Leanna watches as the love of her life and husband of her heart raises her son living as man and wife with her beloved sister. Her woman’s heart is only comforted by the love of her Savior, yet her human side desperately wishes it could be otherwise.

"Whence Came A Prince" lives up to everything the first two books gave us. Romance and the struggles to get our happily ever after ending fill the pages of this wonderful work of fiction. Liz Curtis Higgs has done a beautiful job of painting the Scottish Lowlands in our minds and showing us the true meaning of love, sacrifice and faith.

I highly recommend "Whence Came A Prince". I do suggest readers get the first two books and read them before reading "Prince", but you could read it alone and still have a great read.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Jamie McKie is anxious to return to his ancestral home in Glentrool and claim his inheritance. He is haunted by a shameful past and uncertain of his future. But before Jamie can return home, he must outwit his devious Uncle Lachlan and confront the two men he fears most – his own brother, Evan, and his father, Alec.
Jamie also has two women depending on him, sisters, and at odds with each other. Leanna is the oldest, his first wife, and the mother of his firstborn son. The priests declare their marriage illegal though, and demand Leanna give up her child and leave the area. So Jamie marries the younger, more beautiful, Rose.
When Leanna comes back on the scene all is not happy-ever-after. The two sisters vie for Jamie’s affections. And Leanna wants her son, in spite of the priests orders. What happens with Leanna discovers that Rose is expecting Jamie’s child? Will Jamie be able to take his growing family and return home?
WHENCE COMES A PRINCE is an enjoyable read, with lovable characters and lots of action to keep the reader’s interest. Leanna’s dilemma breaks the reader’s heart, but at the same time they will sympathize with Jamie and Rose. I loved the story all the way through; my only complaint is that the story seems to be based on the story of Jacob, Esau, and Leah and Rachel in the Bible and I knew in advance what would happen. It was like Ms. Higgs took the Biblical story and rewrote it with different names, setting, and time period, but left the events all the same. That disappointed me.
Nevertheless, WHENCE COMES A PRINCE is a good book. If readers are not familiar with the Biblical account of this story, they might want to read Fair is the Rose and Thorn in my Heart first to find out what happens first as WHENCE COMES A PRINCE is a continuation of the story.
