Navarro is a powerful, reclusive Vampire that is happy in his isolation, until he meets the indomitable Sidney. She invades his space, and demands attention. Somehow, he can’t stop thinking about her and she’s making him feel more than he has in years. He is reluctantly drawn towards her, and is starting to wonder if it wouldn’t be so bad to start living again.
Sidney is after a story, and she won’t take no for an answer. Her friend has told her that she will find the answers to her questions about the existence of vampires from Navarro, and she’s not about to take no for an answer. Now that she knows were Navarro lives, she’s sure she can get an interview with the reclusive vampire a get to the bottom of the story. Once she meets him, she starts to wonder if she’s bit off more than she can chew.
Sidney and Navarro have one of those romances that I just love to see. Sidney is a tough lady; she has no illusions about life and needs to see to believe. She’s always taken sex and men when she needs them, and continues on with her life. Navarro is isolated and beginning to not feel at all when Sidney arrives on the scene. When Sidney starts to figure out that something might be going on that he doesn’t want her involved in, he decides to keep her around for a while … involuntarily. She’s a little spitfire that he’s determined to tame. They both are surprised to find that maybe they mean more to each other than a quick lay.
I’ve always liked the tough women characters, and Sidney is definitely that. She’s sometimes a little naive about life and what dangers there are, but it’s something that only endears you to her character. The interaction between her and her friend Moses is a bit unusual, but in keeping with Sidney’s independent personality. Navarro is withdrawn and lonely; Sidney definitely brings some fire into his life. The sex between the two is phenomenal, and really adds to the story. I can’t wait to see what Delilah Devlin comes up with next in this great series.
