SCREWING WITH PERFECT by Louisa Trent

Kesley Richmond and Drew Chandler have been best buds since college and their friendship is still very strong ten years later. In fact, they still live in the same shabby apartment building one floor apart. Kes has always been attracted to Drew’s natural good looks, but Drew is a man on the make and Kes is not on his hit list. Kes wants a monogamous relationship, but she feels that monogamy is dead. She’s waited all her life to give herself to someone and she really wants that someone to be Drew, but Drew refuses to discuss it. Oh, he’ll tell her about his conquests, but when sex and Kes are used in the same sentence, Drew shuts down. Kes wants two weeks with Drew teaching her about sex so she can find a man, but can she convince him to give her what she wants? Will getting what she wants be enough?

Drew is a sexual being, his conquests are many and he’s never had a problem rising to any occasion or getting a woman in his bed. Drew loves Kesley, but not that way…or so he thinks. He refuses to talk about sex with her much less have sex with her, but Kes’ determination is wearing him down. When she suggests the two week sexual training session to Drew he’s floored. When she tells him she’s a virgin, he’s shocked. Drew thinks they have the perfect relationship…as friends. Will screwing with Kes, screw up their perfect relationship?

This book really hit home for me, since one of my best friends during the years 20-30 was a guy. We worked hard to keep the friendship exactly that…never crossing the line. It was hard to keep the relationship strictly friends, so I could relate to Drew and Kesley’s dilemma.
Will crossing that line mean doom or boom for these two?

It's no surprise that SCREWING WITH PERFECT finaled in Dorchester Publishing's American Title Contest. It is a interesting story and Louisa Trent gives a great account of the feelings between two people who already love each other in one sense, but don’t know if they can still be friends after a trial tryst. So often friendships end after the affair, but there’s always the exception to the rule. Is it better to fall in love and then become friends or sacrifice a friendship for sex and maybe love? SCREWING WITH PERFECT doesn’t give all the answers, but it’s a tempting treat for those of us who never had the courage to try.
