The Bible makes a direct link between the heart and outward behavior and claims that outward behavior is merely a fruit of the heart (Luke 6:43-45; Matthew 12:33-37) This is family counselor and author Diane Moody’s reason for writing this book.
The heart holds all our secrets and our desires. From it come our actions. As parents it is our responsibility to make sure our children’s hearts are sowed with the good things God has given us and then, our children will make right choices even when no one (but God) sees them.
The easy to read book is broken into different stages. From one to six. These stages are not age specific, in fact you can start implementing the stages at any age – from little to teen. The last chapter before the extensive study guide, is titled Practical Tips-Making it Work and helps pull all the stages together for us to start using.
With so many parenting self help books, one might wonder why on earth we need another. But, unlike others this one instructs us how to lay the foundation and fill their hearts to produce good behavior and not so much on how to discipline once bad behavior has been conducted.
Parenting the Heart of your Child should be a welcome addition to family and church libraries as it has practical helpful tips that will enhance family life.
