WHEN YOU’RE FACING THE EMPTY NEST is encouragement for mothers preparing for or experiencing children leaving home the first time. This book lets readers know they aren’t alone in grieving their children when they grow up. It is natural to feel loss, and the book offers a sense of hope for the future—moving beyond mothering your children, and instead becoming peers and friends.
Chapters are entitled:
Grieving When Your Child leaves Home
Midlife Meltdown… or Masterpiece?
The Bortox Age
Making Tough Choices
The “In-Between” Generation
Facing Your Spouse’s Midlife Crisis
Developing Midlife Support Groups
And much more
You are sure to find something that minister to you where you are. Even though I am not yet old enough to have children moving away, I can see that day too quickly approaching. I liked that WHEN YOU’RE FACING THE EMPTY NEST also is written for those taking care of their aging parents and juggling child-rearing. I also liked the suggestions for care-packages found in another latter chapter.
At the end of each chapter are journaling/discussion questions, that make this book ideal for small group studies, or even journaling your thoughts as you work through it. There are also real-life glimpses of other women going through the empty nest syndrome and how they cope. The experiences range from traveling the world to bringing in foster children and everything in-between.
If you or someone you know is facing the empty nest, this is the book for
you.
