Bette Leigh McCaslin grew up in the pre-WWII era at Ivy Manor, a cultured young lady. She meets Curtis Sinclair in school and a friendship develops when he asks her to the senior dance. Curt declares his love for Bette, yet wants to wait on marriage until he finishes college. Reluctantly, Bette agrees. She moves to Washington D.C. to be near Curt and work, and a chance encounter moves her into the underground world of spies.
Bette’s first desire was to marry Curt. But once she tastes the thrill of undercover anti-Nazi work, her appetite is whetted. The thrilling Ted
Gaston, her partner, intrigues her. Suddenly life with Curt dims in her dreams.
Curt Sinclair is full of purpose and has a goal. He plans to achieve that goal before he marries Bette. Once she is his, will his life goals change? What will the war bring for the young couple? Ted
Gaston doesn’t plan to play second fiddle in this relationship. But he’s fallen in love with lovely intelligent Bette.
Cote has once again brought to life the people and times of a war-torn era. Her excellent dialogue and settings make this a most enjoyable read.
