BEFORE ANOTHER DIES by Alton Gansky

What Do Politics, a Talk Show and Murder have in common?
Mayor Madison Glenn

Mayor Madison (Maddy) Glenn is running the coastal city Santa Rita. She has lots to deal with including two I’m-here-to-make-you-life-miserable-city council members. Maddy is also in the midst of campaigning for Congress. Her world is about to spin out of control as enemies veiled as friends, friends who become strangers and tow love interests arise for the widow.

When a dead body is discovered in a beater car parked in the Mayor’s specified spot at City Hall her nightmare has just begun.

Three murders in a row force Mayor Maddy to accept the fact that a serial killer stalks Santa Rita.

Maddy is able to connect the dots leading to one common source of all three murders: a reclusive radio host who dabbles in weird eerie subjects

Maddy is a strong woman with a quick brain and a fast tongue, she’s learning to control her thoughts (as a new Christian she is trying to live as a new believer), but some things are too much.

No one and nothing can prepare Maddy for the evil about to be unleashed.

I enjoy Alton Gansky’s books. His stories are vivid and real, suspenseful and always have great characters. I did have a little trouble reading past some of his descriptions, this time. I know writers don’t like cliché’s and try to rephrase things to make them fresh. In this book, he tries too hard. At one suspenseful point, when I was on my seat edge, slowly turning the page, trying not to read too fast, but want to see what was going to happen…he says, something like, spiders jumped down her spine. I was immediately pulled from the story. What spiders? Where did they come from? Why are they on her…another reading and I see, of course he meant a chill went down her spine. But, disregarding this issue, Before Another Dies is a great read. Especially seeing the new Christian desire to fight evil. (Something we sometimes lose as we grow in His grace).
