Author,
Lise Barton ran from her home in Texas
to protect her family from the danger stalking her. After months of
looking
over her shoulder, fear of opening her mail or of being alone, her fear
mounts
as her stalker tracks her down once again. Just when the threats become
more
frequent, more personal and more frightening, Lise gets help
unexpectedly in
the form of a former Army Ranger who makes her ache for what could
never be
between them. Joshua Watts makes it his mission to protect her, but who
will
protect Lise’s heart from Joshua?
Joshua
Watts promised his sister that he would bring her sister-in-law, Lise
Barton home
for Thanksgiving when she cancelled their plans at the last minute.
With his
mercenary training instincts working overtime, he knows something isn’t
right.
It’s not like LIse to stay away from home for months, especially away
from
their niece. Determined to get to the bottom of Lise’s problems and
bring her
home, he’s more than shocked to learn that he’s being stalked. Seeing
that the
authorities are of no help, Josh tries to get the job done and not let
his
personal feelings for Lise interfere. But Josh has wanted Lise for a
long time,
can he resist being so close to her 24/7? Josh’s one rule is to never
mix sex
and work…is it about to be broken?
I love all
books that are military oriented, the men and women whose values and
dedication
are inspiring, which in Lucy Monroe’s Ready,
she does an outstanding job with her characters and a gripping
plot. A reader
can feel the danger mount with every page turned. Josh and Lise are
gripping
characters that a reader feels connected to by the end. The passion
that smolders
between them, heats things up and it’s the caring and no hidden
agenda’s
between them that really make this story outstanding. I simply enjoy a
story
where the characters are honest and not looking to further themselves
at
another’s expense. Ms. Monroe writes her first Mercenary title
splendidly. Ready is a keeper and a must
read.
I look
forward to the upcoming stories in the series. I was greatly intrigued
by
Nitro, Josh’s pal who helps him protect Lise. I hope we see him in the
future. Ready does what the titles
says…gets the reader Ready for more of this series and Lucy Monroe’s
work.
Look for
book two of the Mercenary Trilogy in January 2006, with WILLING and
then later in
2006 with AND ABLE.
