Angela
Prescott leaves her life behind when her ex-boyfriend, a cop, abuses
and
terrorizes her, making her fear for her life. She finds a safe haven in
Minneapolis,
where she is
cautious and always looking over her shoulder. But one night she is
attacked by
gangsters, she meets Tommy T., a twelve year old child whose mind and
maturity
are much older. He has seen and suffered things that Angela doesn’t
know and
they take one another’s wing and become a family. On that same night
that she
was attacked, Angela also meets a man whose face she can’t see, but he
heals
her wounds. “Jewel Eyes” is a man of mystery, one who Angela finds
herself
thinking of time and again. Until she meets Jesse Brown Wolf, the
handyman who
keeps everyone at a distance, yet helps out people in need, including
her and
Tommy T., over and over.
Angela,
Jesse and Tommy T., as well as the kids and family around them in
Angela’s
apartment building, come together to conquer the gangs and dope dealers
determined to have their way. Survival in an inner city becomes so much
more
for all of them.
Ms.
Eagle’s, The Night Remembers,
is a gripping and captivating story with imagery that is written
masterfully and
a storyline that keeps a reader on the edge of their seat. The three
lead
characters all have secrets of their own, mysteries that weave a web of
captivation around their audience.
This is a
fast-paced tale that doesn’t slow down and danger seems to lurk at
every
corner. Ms. Eagle is an author I have enjoyed before, but nothing
compares to The Night Remembers. I can’t wait to
read more of her work.
