December,
1873 - Fredonia, New York.
Claire Ashier is trying to make a living, which
isn’t easy when the
saloon across the street, Pemberton Inn, keeps driving away her paying
boarders
with the loud noises at night. Boyd
Grayson, the owner and operator of the saloon, refuses to close the
place. Nor will he give in when the
temperance
ladies, including his lovely neighbor, shows up at his door.
Claire
Ashier is at her wits end. When her last
paying boarder leaves because of the saloon, she knows if something
isn’t done
about it, she will wind up in the poor-house. Claire does not trust
men,
especially those which spend time at saloons.
One way or another she will get that saloon to
close, in spite of Boyd
having the most kissable mouth she has seen for a long time.
Boyd
Grayson is a businessman first and foremost.
He doesn’t believe owning a den of vice is wrong.
After all, he does
provide a service for the hard working-men of the town.
When the temperance ladies come calling, all
he wants to do is kiss Claire, she is the most lovely woman he has seen. She has gotten under his skin.
Claire and
Boyd are always crossing paths and words.
They both want something from each other, which
neither one will give
into. When Boyd starts doing good deeds
for Claire, making sure she has wood every morning, making sure she has
enough
food, offering to teach her how to shoot a gun, Claire is not fooled,
it will
not work. She still intends to close his
saloon.
This is the
third book in a four book series. If you
had the pleasure of reading the first two books, you will not be
disappointed
in the third one.
I enjoyed Lips
That Touch Mine quite a bit. Claire
was a strong female, who believed in what she wanted, she didn’t scare
easy and
she stood her ground. Boyd was also a
strong character. He also had a gentle
side which we were shown. This was
well-written book. It will please fans
of Historical Romances.
