Susan Thompson is on a mission to lose her fiancé, the ever perfect, metro-sexual, Derrick Abernathy. Susan’s father hand-picked Derrick for Susan because he and Derrick are so much alike. Susan knows something is missing in her relationship with Derrick, so she heads off to think things through. Along the way, Susan loses control, first of her car, then her mind, and maybe even her heart when she meets Zeke Snow.
Zeke is the manly, but good-looking truck driver who rescues Susan more than once. Susan thinks he’s just a truck driver, but actually, Zeke is the owner of the trucking company and is just filling in on a job. He doesn’t want Susan to know because he wants her to like him for himself, and not his money. Zeke’s first wife skipped town with his best friend so he’s not looking for a relationship to confuse his steady life. However, he is attracted to Susan so what would a little roll in the sleeper compartment hurt?
What will become of Susan and Zeke? Well let me tell you, it is a wild ride with lots of hidden curves—pun intended. These two characters get off on the wrong foot and wage war against each other, only to surrender in the best way. The secondary characters don’t actually enter the story until the very end, but they add their own spice to the story. I especially liked Zeke’s mother...oh, and did I sense a little attraction between her and Susan’s father???
Jo Barrett has done readers a huge favor by writing HIDDEN CURVES. Susan and Zeke are real and the banter they share is second to none. Oh, and lets not forget the tender moments that really heat up the pages!! What more can you ask for…a great storyline, hysterical, vulnerable and loveable characters that take you on a winding journey through life and love. HIDDEN CURVES is a great book that I give my highest recommendation…the Reviewer’s Award!
