Return to the Dark Lands,
where every man has a wild side
and many a woman longs to claim one as her own. And so, a dedicated
scientist
thinks to join the military academy that proffers lucrative incentives
for
strong, intelligent women. She's never had much interest in men, much
less a
lover. It seems to be the answer to what she's looking for.
Little does Vana know
just how profoundly different her
future will be when she meets, Dagon, leader of his people and
ostensible
commandant of the academy. His mission is to find single, available
women to
help salvage his own people's decimated numbers after a generation of
war and a
nasty bio-weapon, in the form of a virus that has rendered their women
unable
to bear daughters.
Ms. Dawn takes us into
another foray into the Dark Lands,
this time to meet the adoptive mother of Keg (from Bad
Moon Rising) and tells the tale of how Dagon and Vana met. Her
richly detailed world gains new focus and further depth in this
stand-alone
story.
The tension and chemistry
between these opposite ends of the
spectrum builds the anticipation of Dagon and Vana's union to a
satisfying and
rewarding pinnacle. Ultimately, the tale resolves itself in a most
delightful
fashion, leaving the reader with a toe-curling warmth and glow. Put it
on the
virtual shelf and reread it along with Ms. Dawn's other Dark Lands
tales for an
escape into a world that is fully realized and richly rendered on the
canvas of
one's mind.
