TRIBES OF THE VAMPIRE: ETERNALLY BOUND by Michelle M. Pillow

Finding her brother covered in blood is not the way Tatiana had expected to enjoy the rest of her evening after a party. He’s in a panic because he thinks he might have accidentally killed a girl, and he wants Tatiana’s help in covering it up. At first, Tatiana could only think about how this would affect her social life, and finally agrees to help him clean it up. She’s stunned to discover that it’s her maid and childhood friend Alice, yet in the end still tries to cover it up. In the process, she also discovers that she’s a witch, with the power to command obedience, even when it’s a vampire.

Marcello is a vampire that’s just moved into a nearby mansion and was out hunting for his next meal when he came across Tatiana trying to deal with what her brother had done. He’s surprised to feel a stirring of interest, something he hadn’t felt in a long time. As he watched her try to deal with the gruesome scene in front of her, he found himself attracted to her and her strength. Little did he know that she’s a witch with the power to control him, and when she commands him to help her, he has no choice. She enslaves him for the next four days to warm her bed and feed her magic. When he finally breaks through her control, he takes revenge the only way he knows how, by making her his slave.

There’s not a lot of sex in this one, and it’s not as graphic as I expected. One of the intriguing things about this book is that both of the main characters started out as obnoxious. I didn’t like either one of them, because Tatiana was a spoiled brat and Marcello wasn’t just dark and brooding, he was detached and didn’t really care what happened around him. It’s not until I got to about the middle of the book that I started liking Marcello, and it took even longer to like Tatiana. But that’s one of the reasons I liked it, it’s not something you pick up, read the first page, and know what’s going to happen through the rest of the book. There are a lot of side twists and turns in the story, with a couple of side stories that I would have loved to know more about. I’m sure that Michelle Pillow will come up with some really unique and exciting characters to continue with the TRIBES OF THE VAMPIRE series, and I can’t wait to read them all.
