Pauline Sokol has been a dedicated nurse for most of her adult life, it's all she ever wanted to be. But now it seems that daily routine and never taking time off has left her a bit burned out and wanting more from her life. He on again off again romantic life with Dr. Vance Taylor after 5 years has left him with not committing to a permanent relationship. At the suggestion of her roommate Pauline agrees to try a job at an insurance company. Instead of working behind a desk as she thought, her job was to investigate insurance frauds. Her medical background made her the prefect individual for the job, only was she ready for it. Her first assignment was to prove a former classmate was really not disabled with her so called back injury.
Her first day on the job was nothing short of a disaster, but it made her come into contact with a handsome stranger named Jagger. Though no one really seemed to know what his job was he did offer to help Pauline in her case. It was Jagger's suggestion that Pauline go undercover to the clinic that was the last place of employment of the suspect. After the first day Pauline seemed to notice on the patients charts referrals that we not necessary. She began to inquire about this to Dr. Taylor who happened to work at the clinic. Vance seemed to nonchalantly skirt around the subject. Little did she know that her questions would not only cause a stir but endanger her own life. Would she be able to escape from the danger or subcome to the fate of others who were meeting untimely deaths.
And interesting plot and ending that will take the reader totally by surprise. I do hope this is the first of more from this author. A good summer read.
