DRAGONS LAW: DAMON by Alicia Sparks

Damon is impatient to meet his promised bride. He’s not sure what she will be like, but when he finally sees her, one look at her and he knows he has to have her. He steals her away in the night and keeps her to himself for a while, without telling her who and what he is. When his brother shows up and starts a fight over Kyra, she is wounded and thrown into another dimension. After six long years, he’s never given up on her, and after his brother throws the amulet that helps him control his inner dragon in the void he knows he has to find it, or he will never be able to control his inner beast and find his lost love.

Kyra wakes up in a dimension called earth with no memories of what happened to her, and struggling with life threatening wounds. After struggling to heal and regain some sense of normalcy, she slowly starts to carve out a life as a video game creator and tries to find peace. She can feel something wild trying to take over her mind at times and it is starting to make her crazy. She despairs of finding a way to control it, until she finds a mysterious necklace that seems to calm the wild side of her when she wears it. When the owner comes to claim it, he’s suddenly claiming more than just the amulet; he’s claiming her as well.

I liked the premise of this story, but it didn’t seem to flow very well and was slightly inconsistent. I had a difficult time following Damons feelings for Kyra; sometimes he loved and trusted her, others he was convinced that she cheated on him. I understand that seeing his brother and Kyra together could be misinterpreted, but it still seemed very inconsistent to me. I was sometimes confused due to this inconsistency and ended up re-reading some parts to understand what was going on. Kyra was great, she overcame some serious obstacles and wasn’t afraid to speak her mind, yet still came across as a gentle person. DRAGON’S LAW: DAMON had some great moments in it and shows a lot of promise for the series.
