WAITING FOR DAWN by Lori O’Clare

Dawn is trying to save her planet and others by attempting to stop a robotic race called Bortan from being able to blend in with humans. Their intention is to exterminate the human race. Dawn comes from a slave background, but is not, and has never been, subservient. When her world was destroyed by the Bortan, she gained her freedom, but at a great cost. She knows of Trent because he is a famous high commander, and when she sees him at the bar she can’t believe her luck. She drops a package in his lap, knowing that she won’t be able to dispose of it herself and tells him to destroy it, hoping that once he discovers what it is he will do as she asks.

Trent stops at the bar after a difficult mission for a night of forgetfulness. When an intriguing woman drops something on his table and runs away, forgetting is the last thing on his mind. Until she showed up in the bar, no one else had attracted him but after she drops the package in his lap and runs away, he’s determined to find out what is going on. When he catches up with Dawn, he’s in for a lot more than he bargained for.

WAITING FOR DAWN has a lot of action and adventure in it, with two characters that you can’t help but root for. Dawn is a complicated woman who has had a hard life, yet has remained strong throughout her years. Trent is a powerful man, who is tired of the life he is leading, but not quite sure what he needs to do different.

When Dawn and Trent meet, the sparks fly and the passion is hot. I liked the interaction between the two; I thought they truly seemed to be in love. Dawn was a great character, vulnerable and insecure, but still coming across as capable and well able to take care of her self. Trent was a great guy that had to learn to give up some of his control to Dawn, which was very difficult for him. I would definitely recommend this one to anyone that likes a futuristic romance with a lot of action and a strong heroine.
