SOFIE METROPOLIS is the hilariously zany story about a Greek-American waitress turned Private Investigator. Sofie has always been a good Greek-American girl doing exactly what her family expected. When she catches her groom “schtupping” the maid of honor in the church, just before her wedding, she decides to make some changes in her life. First things first, Sofie dumps the “schtupping” groom, quits her job at her family’s restaurant and joins her Uncle Spyros’ P.I. firm.
P.I. life is not everything Sofie hoped for, but she’s making the best of it. She wanted excitement, but what she gets are mostly missing animal cases or the occasional cheating spouse case. She gets asks to do a lot of freebie work from nosey neighbors, her grandfather and her secretary who’s looking for the neighborhood vampire. Then she finally gets a paying customer and it turns out to be more than Sofie bargained for. Will the excitement be too much for Sofie?
Enter Jake Porter an Aussie hottie who may well be a bounty hunter. Sofie is very attracted to Jake, but he always shows up at the oddest times and she can’t figure out what he’s all about. Sofie’s lust for Jake is so strong that she finally throws herself at him, but Jake rejects her because he doesn’t want to be the rebound man!! HUH?? Sofie also does a little investigating into Jake and she turns up absolutely nothing. Is Jake Porter for real?
The wacky secondary characters are sometimes too numerous to keep up with, but you must if you want stay with the story. Sofie’s mother always has a potential groom on hand when Sofie stops by. Mrs. Kapoor, the nosey neighbor, wants Sofie to find her missing dog. Her grandfather wants her to find something he doesn’t want the family to know is missing. While investigating a cheating spouse, Sofie gets shot at and a dead body disappears…what more can happen to this girl? You’ll have to read the book to find out!!!
SOFIE METROPOLIS is one crazy situation after another, but it definitely keeps you hooked. It’s not so much a romance as it is comedy sleuth. Tori Carrington has written a mind boggling, madcap caper that you can’t put down and you won’t soon forget. Since there wasn’t closure on the romance between Sofie and Jake, could there be more SOFIE books to follow?? I’m thinking… there better be!! If you’re up for some off the wall fun then don’t miss SOFIE METROPOLIS.
