Bella’s grandfather has really done it this time. His will states that in order to inherit, she has to get married and stay married for at least six months. On top of that, she has to marry John Lawless. John has been a thorn in Bella’s side for several years. He is everything she wants in a man, yet he has absolutely no use for her. She’s shocked that he pushes for the marriage and despite his past behavior, Bella marries John. This might be her only chance to be with John.
John is barely able to keep his desire for Bella under control. Now he is expected to marry her and live with her. How will he keep his hands off of her? Bella has been pushing his buttons for a long time, now she seems almost jealous of the women in his life. Bella is a contradiction in terms; she seems to want to be with him, yet pushes him away.
As John and Bella settle into marriage, the two give into the lust that erupts between them. Bella falls deeper in love with John as every day passes. John seems to care for her, but will he want to stay with her after the terms of the will are met? The more time John spends with Bella, makes John realize just how deep his feelings are for her. Could she possibly want him as much as he wants her?
P.J. Womack’s The Secret is a wonderful emotional tale. The chemistry between the two is very intense. The author has written a tale that will catch you from the first word and will not let go. John and Bella must admit to themselves just how deep their feelings run before they can claim the love waiting for them.
