Billy Bannister and best friend Bonnie Silver are on a quest. These two anthrozil’s (good dragons turned human - Billy breathes fire and Bonnie has dragon wings), using things learned through previous events (covered in the first two books) explore a land of darkness. This place has seven worlds, each world leads closer to the ultimate evil.
Billy and Bonnie come to the seventh place where the evil Morgan Le Faye holds prisoners. Suddenly Billy has to make a tough choice. Sacrifice his friend for the good of many, or let them die so she can live?
I am not a sci-fi fan. My family is enamored of dragons though, so I try to read about them when I get the chance. This book reads like a video game…each world conquered leads to another and another and another until the ultimate world where the hero will triumph or be defeated. And, these anthrozil’s are great characters. Not only are the believable but the faith they show is an example as how we all humans should live our lives.
I don’t understand how authors come up with plots, language and lands of fantasy, but Mr. Davis is a very good at setting up this land and leads the reader on a wonderful journey of exploration.
The Circles of Seven is the third book in the Dragons in our Midst series with one more to follow. I didn’t read the first two but the short synopsis at the front of this book tells the story bringing us up to date to where this book starts.
I did not read this book in one setting – I bet some fantasy fans did though! It is a young adult novel with the reading level between the ages of 11-15, but I have to say this 44 year old non fantasy fan enjoyed the book just fine! It will make great summer reading and I plan on getting the series to read it to my grandsons when they’re a little older. (It’s fantasy kind of like the Chronicles of Narnia except with dragons and half dragons. The battle between good and evil is just as strong. ) A must read if you like adventure!
