Rianna Kingsley doesn't know who she is, and she hasn't for the last six years. Ever since she washed up on a sandy beach with two bullet holes in her back, she's been searching for her identity and a little revenge. Finding her identity could get the assassins who have been stalking her off her trail once and for all, and also save her from living her life under an alias. For now, she's Rianna Kingsley, Sheriff. Everything is going well, her cover has not been blown in a long while, she's got a steady job with access to secure information, a house and a good lead on the line - but then she meets up with a sexy hunk in a restaurant and just can't resist the offer of one night of passion.
Jake Tarrance knows he wants Rianna Kingsley as soon as he claps eyes on her, sitting at a table in his restaurant. When circumstances throw them together, Jake is more than happy to oblige the lady in any way that she wants.
After a steamy one-night stand, Jake just can't stop thinking about the mysterious woman. Ria can't forget Jake either. And when they meet up in the Sheriff's office, and discover that they are both on opposite sides of the law, things just can't get any tenser.
Now, the assassins who have dogged Ria for six years have finally caught up with her and she must join forces with Jake or risk death. But, for two loaners like Jake and Ria, learning to trust enough to have a viable partnership is more difficult that it seems.
Author Kylie Brant really brings a sense of danger and mystery to the reader throughout the pages of THE BUSINESS OF STRANGERS. This book is fraught with tension, both sexual and otherwise. The hero and the heroine come together with a wild heat, and the story is tightly written and well thought out. Myriad details and twists and turns have the reader wondering just where the story will go in the end. Though totally lacking any form of sweet romance, this book certainly makes up for it with pure sizzle.
