NOTHING IN COMMON by Megan Hart

Sarah Lazin is a plain ordinary person compared to her artist sister. Although Sarah and Rivka have basically the same features, Rivka is the prettier of the two. Sarah’s relationships haven’t been notable and the last man she was involved with, William Darcy, ended the relationship by telling her he went out with her to do her a favor. William was very handsome, so Sarah decided she would steer clear of handsome men and only date average, nerdy types. Then one night at an art show she notices a gorgeous man across the room. She can’t seem to take her eyes off him. When he starts towards her, Sarah wants to run, but she can’t.

Alex Caine is an extremely good looking and very successful man, but he’s tired of the hot bodies. He’s want to find a woman that wants him for what he has achieved and what he is on the inside; not what he looks like on the outside. When he sees a woman staring at him from across the room at Rivka’s showing, he’s immediately drawn to her. She’s not a classic beauty, but he likes what he sees. He decides to approach her and invite her to have a coffee with him. At first she refuses, but finally accepts. Then later, she rejects him because of his good looks. Alex hates being classed by his looks and he can’t figure out why Sarah is so against a good looking guy. Usually women are drawn to him for that reason, but not Sarah. The evening ends badly with Alex leaving mad.

Physical attraction is one thing that can’t be turned on or off at a whim. Circumstances bring these two back together and they decide to give things a try. Alex is a good guy, with a lot to give, but until he can convince Sarah that he’s the real deal their relationship doesn’t stand a chance. Alex is a great lover and Sarah can’t believe how good it is between them, but can she give up the ghosts of past loves? Will her insecurities cause her to lose the best thing that’s ever happened to her? Can Alex find a way to prove to Sarah she can trust him?

NOTHING IN COMMON is a book about two people with basically nothing in common, but a tenderly and oh so hot physical attraction. Weren’t some of the best relationships founded on passion? I thought Alex was a really genuine character. He’s sexy, lovable and compassionate and he wants a woman to want him for the right reasons. Sarah drove me a little crazy. Why she couldn’t trust Alex was way beyond my comprehension. She made stupid comments and never really gave him a chance to prove to her that he was more than a pretty face. All in all I enjoyed the book with the exception of Sarah’s TSTL (To Stupid to Love) character flaw. I personally would recommend the book for Alex alone.
