Author,
Faith Pelletier heads back to her childhood home in Serenity, Maine
when her cousin, Chelsea, dies. Law enforcement believes that Chelsea’s auto
accident was a suicide and
while Faith at first believes it to be untrue, she sets aside her
initial
doubt. Chelsea
left behind her fifteen year old daughter, Jessica, who Faith is now
guardian
to. In shock and unsure of everything, Faith teeters on the brink of
panic
anxiety that she has struggled with since her husband, Ben’s death
eighteen
months ago.
When Faith
learns from Chelsea’s
boss, Newt that she was heading to the office to write a huge story
that would
set their town in its ear when the death occurred, Faith begins to
question
what really happened that night and investigates what story her cousin
was
working on. More determined now than ever that Chelsea’s death was not a suicide,
Faith’s
life is in danger as she is stalked, ran off the road and told to get
out of
town.
Faith’s
only assistance is Serenity's Police Chief, Ty Savage, the man who
broke her heart
twenty
years ago when he chose her cousin over her. Though she got on with her
life,
Faith knows there are unresolved feelings between her and Ty. But she
only came
back to Serenity
to deal with Chelsea’s funeral and take
Jessica
back to New York
with her. So why does Faith feel like she’s home now? With lies, murder
and a
past that needs to be resolved, Faith Pelletier’s life many never be
the same.
Fast-paced
and exhilarating is Lethal Lies
by Laurie Breton. Readers are immediately drawn into this tale by Chelsea, as she
races
back to the newspaper office to tell-all in a story that will surprise
everyone. With characters that fit this story well, Ms. Breton keeps
her audience
guessing. With many questions about some characters, Davy, Newt, even
Ty. I
found myself wondering what they were all about and how honest any of
them were
being. Each was enigmatic and intriguing characters who added a lot to
this
story. Faith, Jessie, Ty’s Dad, Buck, and even Chelsea herself - though
deceased, speak to the reader. Eager to learn about Serenity and the
story Chelsea
died for, pages are flipped rapidly
until the very end.
Ms. Breton
has become one of my favourite romantic suspense authors. You only have
to read Lethal Lies and Final
Exit – to name a couple of
my favourites by this author – to know why. For suspense, intrigue,
in-depth
characters and a fast-pace that doesn’t ease, grab Laurie Breton’s Lethal Lies. You won’t be sorry
you did.
