The fourth volume in the Sister Circle series, A Place to Belong, introduces new women to Peerbaugh Place, a boarding house run by Evelyn. However, none seem to have the funds necessary to help her make a living. Does Peerbaugh Place have a more important role than income?
Evelyn’s mothering spirit has allowed her to open her home as a boarding house after the death of her husband. In other volumes, we meet characters who reach out to one another and form a circle of sisters. Now this sisterhood embraces new women. Ursola, a Russian mail order bride, is suddenly widowed and homeless. Through a series of circumstances, she’s brought into the fold. An author, Vanessa offers a light in the tunnel temporarily as a paying client, but her agent calls and the book she’s selling may spiral upward. The boarding house doesn’t hold its charm any longer, so she takes her rent money and leaves. Octogenarian Accosta’s lack of funds to repair her home brings her in the door, too. Jody’s need for a place to stay while her child is in the hospital fills yet another room. How will Evelyn make ends meet? And what does she do with this love that’s grown toward Wayne?
Audra and Russell discover the underlying cause for their infertility, and it brings their marriage to a crisis point. Mae’s adult children return home with their baggage and two year old. Life seems unfair. Then a locket appears holding a mystery for the soon-to-be wed Piper and her father Wayne. The secret will change lives.
A rollicking collection of reality, A Place to Belong spins the tales of multi characters, and permeates the setting with God’s love. His truth and His word revealed touch the lives of every character that appears on the scene.
The authors Bright and Moser have woven a tale of family. Sisterhood. People concerned with helping others. Their brilliant use of dialogue and humor makes this an excellent read. The study questions at the back create a forum for excellent dialogue for any reading group.
