Twin hybrid
vampire/shape-shifters Acier and Etienne have finally found the fathers
they
have been searching for. Instead of taking the revenge that has
percolated for
decades, Acier is poisoned and needs help, which his father, Aleksei,
gladly
provides. Now that Aleksei has found his son, he intends to keep him.
Power
struggles for Acier’s pack have created difficulties, and treachery
from within
have placed him in danger. Aleksei will not stand idly by and watch
Acier be
destroyed. The danger is from a source that Aleksei unfortunately knows
very
well. A fem vampire that had, at one point, thought herself his
brother,
Mikhel’s, bloodlust; going as far as attempted murder to retain that
honor.
Deoctra has the powerful Brotherhood – a band of rogue vampires – set
against
allowing Acier to stay as Alpha. Deoctra intends to see her lover,
Leon, as
alpha and to take her place at his side.
From the
same womb, twins have created twins. Acier’s brother Etienne, is
fathered by
Aleksei’s twin Vladimir. Etienne has equally torn feelings about his
father.
Vlad will gladly die for his, and goes to great lengths to prove this.
Acier and
Etienne are on the precipice of what can be an unpleasant aspect of
their
vampire heritage. The Feast of Indulgence is when a latent or
half-blood
vampire becomes full blood. This is a very dangerous time for the
vampire and
those around them. Aleksei’s torn, his bloodlust Dani will lose their
child –
due to stress – if he leaves. Yet, his newly discovered son needs him.
Ms. Lee has
brought her vampires and shifters together in this bridging novel, Moonlight Madness Part 1. Family
plays a big part in all of her novels, this one being no exception.
Aleksei and
Vladimir get a taste of what they put their mother – Palea – through
when they
found her. Their sons hate them for deserting them, this was not the
case but
they have lived their whole lives under this assumption. I love the
fact that
we get to revisit characters from previous novels. Not just a token
showing, we
get to see those that we fell in love with in previous works interact
and live
again. Although some may find the extent to which Ms. Lee has family
participate, I love her ‘Dumont’
vampires and
those around them. This series ties Ms. Lee’s Bloodlust series together
with
her Moonlight series- available from Ellora’s Cave. Be warned, this
book is a
cliffhanger, nothing is resolved at the end of this book and Moonlight Madness Part 2 will
pick up right where this left off. I cannot wait to see how she
resolves the
two sets of twins problems and perhaps get a hint as to which sibling
will
feature in her next novel. Writing as powerful and diversified as Ms.
Lee’s has
unending possibilities, I for one plan to be a life long fan.
