As an ER
doctor on the night shift, Janine Grayson is used to treating unusual
characters, and she knows that there are quite a few more patients
during the
full moon. This full moon is no
exception. Paramedics bring in a John
Doe, hit by a bus. The patient is naked,
leaving Janine, professional distance aside, with no doubt as to his
very fine
masculine physique. John Doe turns out
to be a more apt moniker than anyone would have thought.
He awakes disoriented with no memory other
than the name Connor. He, in turn is
drawn to the beautiful red headed Dr. Grayson.
Janine
cannot allow Connor to walk out of her life.
Her great-grandmother had warned her that she would
know ‘the one’ as
soon as she touched him. Being empathic,
she worked constantly to keep out the emotions of others.
She could not block Connor from her thoughts. She is more than willing to accept that he
may never know who he once was.
When danger
comes knocking on Janine’s door she convinces Connor to stay with her
to guard
her. Who better to keep with her than
the dangerous stranger who didn’t seem a stranger at all?
Janine is plagued by dreams that grow more
urgent, more frightening as the full moon approaches.
If Connor regains his memories will these two
be able to stay together?
Marked is an incredibly
sensuous and
compelling book. Ms. Anderson and Mr.
Douglas keep the tension knife-edge sharp throughout the book. You have vague hints as to whom or what
Connor is, but you’re never quite sure.
Janine’s empathy is described with such flair that I
felt as if I were
there experiencing others feelings also.
Marked is not your
typical shapeshifting novel, it is fresh and original.
There is one scene in the book that some may
find objective, but it was tastefully done, and also original to this
story. I hope that this is but the first
collaboration between Ms. Anderson and Mr. Douglas.
These two have excellent taste in subject
matter and I cannot wait to see what they come out with next.
